Book. xxxii + 752 pp., with frontis portrait of Fontanini engraved by Sorello and a second plate of Lorenzo Tiepolo, to whom the work was dedicated (this engraved by A.A. d'Urbino). Also stately headpiece atop first dedication page, smaller decoration at beginning of each of three books and "La Biblioteca". Hybrid work of Italian belle lettres and literature which provides an early history of the Italian language, and an invaluable early summary of the important works of Italian literature up to that time. Fontanini in this included works from all parts of the Italian peninsula, and he a mixture of summary and/or analysis to the works singled out. This copy of this rare work is in fine condition. The contemporary (or near contemporary) vellum bindign has only light soilage. Four raised bands on spine, with brown title/author/date label in one panel in great shape. Tiny separation of les than 1/4 inch at top of rear joint. Pages remarkably clean and fresh, binding tight. Fine.

Hunting, Hawking, Shooting, Illustrated in a Catalogue of Books, Manuscripts, Prints and Drawings (4 Volumes) London Privately printed for the author by Waterlow & Sons Limited 1928 First Limited Edition Half Morocco Very Good No. 151 of 300 copies signed by Schwerdt, with all the plates used destroyed (thus later printings are quite different). Folio sized, 13 by 10", 33 by 25 cm. Bound by Kelly & Sons, London. 138 color plates, some double and/or folding plates, and a total of 382 plates in the four volumes. One of the most beautiful bibliographies ever produced, and a definitive bibliography (up to that time) of the subjects covered. Green morocco has shelfwear and rubbing along joints and corners. Volume 1 shows the most wear on the spine, with scuff marks. Still the bindings remain handsome and imposing. Generally clean and tight within.

The Second Edition, Corrected and Augmented London Timothy Childe, Robert Knaplock 1714 Second Edition Full Calf Very Good Uncommon classic in so early a printing. xviii, 272 pp. Tall folio-sized, measuring 13 by 8 inches, 33 by 21 cm. Contemporary calf rebacked attractively, with part of old label preserved. Boards in Cambridge style with scuffs and abrasions, modest on the front board but with three finger-sized lifting off the surfact on the rear board. One leaf with marginal closed tear. Mostly clean leaves.
