Printed in colors by Scottish-American lithographer Thomas Sinclair of Philadelphia. 4to. Unpaginated, 40 pp. An anthology of poems with magnificent chromolithographic border ornamentation and plates. In addition to the Medieval and Gothic imagery and decoration, there is Egyptian, Alpine and American imagery. With an imposing bevelled full morocco binding. Rebacked sympathetically. Craquelature along the joints. A few finger smudges of the heavy card leaves, but overall clean and bright.

Seven heavy card leaves, with bright chromos and/or text only on the recto. Five of the pages, including title, with brilliant illumination, and particularly winsom are the illustrations of a cock crowing and of a donkey. The verse is written in a mock Old English. Scarce, with only six copies listed as institutional holders on OCLC. Light foxing in the margins and on the blank versos. Light corner wear to the decorated cloth.

London Bell and Daldy 1866 Decorated Cloth Good 
4to. vi, 66 pp. With 16 plates and some text illustrations of material from Medieval illuminated manuscripts. Most specimens from the British Museum, and this was prepared, it appears, as a loose guide, exegesis and appreciation of that collection while speaking on the subject more generally. Wear to the cloth in the corners and along the edges. Repaired short cut along lower front joint. Some archival tape repairs of closed tears and/or chipping of the leaves within. Pages otherwise clean and copy is tight.
