8vo. 19.5 by 12.5 cm. xix, [5], 320, 8 pp. With frontis portrait, and three plates in text, including one with pictograms of sign language. Includes publisher's eight page advertisement at end, which we believe is very uncommon. This narrative about a deaf mute who was able to prevail in life was traditionally attributed to the prolific Defoe, but it is now believed might have been primarily authored by William Bond. Joint repaired and restoration to spine head and small part of upper corner, rear board. Darkish age toning to the leaves.
