Limited edition of 310 copies. 4to. 26 by 20 cm. ciii, pp. The frontis plate resembles the artwork of Beardsley. The many letter devices and other decoration evokes the style of William Morris. Ricketts (1866-1931) was a versatile artist who achieved success in theater design in addition to book illustration and typography. He was a co-founder of The Dial with his life partner, and the two were in the true sense of the word, antiquarians who gloried in the artistry of the past over their present. Full light blue morocco, with gilt ruling, floral band turn ins, two raised bands, two gilt devices on spine. Condition: wear along joints. Spine tips slightly rubbed. Ownership inscription inked on FEP. Half a dozen pages with speckling -- not foxing, and we believe this is the case with every copy. Otherwise, overwhelmingly clean within.
