N.d., circa 1850. 8vo. 20.5 by 14 cm. With 50 hand-colored plates. Colas 1547, Lipperheide 809. No title page, and probably the front cover always served as the title. A series of evocative, livelycostume plates, depicting a broad cross-section of Hamburger types, from all classes and many professions, sometimes with a dash of saucy humor. The collection was issued and/or bound in a variety of sizes and plate numbers -- there is no uniform standard. The volume here is of a larger format. Condition: light soiling of the contemporary decorative red cloth binding. Slight looseness to front hinge. Light age toning, but plates generally clean, their colors bright.
