With time on our hands during the Coronavirus lockdown, we are reviewing the prices of some of our older stock and adjusting prices of books to ensure that they are the most attractive offering in the marketplace, as it is a reality of the antiquarian market for books that less expensive and mid-level material the trend has been inexorably downward, to the chagrin of booksellers and to the benefit of collectors.  Consequently, we have slashed prices anywhere between 20 percent and 60 percent of these books we have had listed for five years or more.  So we hope that anyone visiting the site might find something that might have become overpriced but now legitimately qualifies as a bargain.

1 Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus Early Manuscript Copy of Three Mozart Piano Quartets (the two piano quartets written as such and a transcription of a piano woodwind quintet)
Half Calf over Marbled Boards Good
N.d., late eighteenth or probably very early nineteenth century. Oblong, 12 by 9 inches, 31 by 22 cm. This is a copy of the three works by hand, as was common at the time. Inscribed on the FEP is the name, in an old-fashioned cursive, U. L. Viner of Bath, and there is pricing information neatly written in a corner, indicating that this copy was made in England. The three works contained in their entirety, with all instrumental parts, are the Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, K. 478, the Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat major, K. 493 and the Piano-woodwind Quintet, K. 452. Such transcriptions were common in the day, when to enjoy a piece of music outside the concert hall often required being able to play it. Other than the first and last two leaves, which have some foxing, the interior is generally clean and attractive, with a handsome and thick paper stock used. The first prelim blank, made of a lighter paper, has a crease. The leather is heavily worn. The joints are starting, and there is a tissue repair not holding very well.
