1 Deck of 48 Dutch cards depicting mythological figures
Netherlands Near Fine
A scarce set of learning cards on mythology, dating to around 1800. There is one card for each figure from Roman or Greek mythology: Saturn, Cybele, Ceres, Jupiter, Juno, Apollo, and on and on. Each card has a small woodcut vignette medallion of the figure, followed by a description of the god and his place in the firmament. The backs of the cards are blank. The cards measure 12 by 8 cm, or 4.5 by 3 inches, each. The top card, No. I of De Fabel, has light soiling. Otherwise, the cards are quite clean, with trivial wear evident in some corners.
