With time on our hands during the Coronavirus lockdown, we are reviewing the prices of some of our older stock and adjusting prices of books to ensure that they are the most attractive offering in the marketplace, as it is a reality of the antiquarian market for books that less expensive and mid-level material the trend has been inexorably downward, to the chagrin of booksellers and to the benefit of collectors.  Consequently, we have slashed prices anywhere between 20 percent and 60 percent of these books we have had listed for five years or more.  So we hope that anyone visiting the site might find something that might have become overpriced but now legitimately qualifies as a bargain.

The Sweet Wedding Belle
2 The Sweet Wedding Belle
London S. M. & S. Very Good Minus
Vinegar metamorphic. N.d., circa 1880. Closed, 20 by 12 cm, opening to be 37.5 cm tall. Closed, three angels surrounding a swinging bell. Opening it reveals a plain woman hodling a fan and an open book in which we can read "Solemnization Matrimony . . . I will". To the side is a sheet floating atop a window sill on which is written: "Hints to Persons about to Marry". The snark of this metamorphic is a warning to men about ugly spouses, and perhaps also vain, overly eager fiancees. Condition: light soiling along edges. Most of this will come off with effort.

Who'll Take Me for a Partner? And Win the Game
3 Who'll Take Me for a Partner? And Win the Game
NA Good
Vinegar metamorphic. N.d., circa 1880. Closed, 20 by 12 cm, opening to be 37.5 cm tall. Closed, booty from the hunt -- a dead rabbit, pheasant, and dove -- grouped together like a trophy, next to a pot of jam and a placard with a heart in its center. Opening it three angels surrounding a swinging bell. Opening it reveals a hideous, quite possibly scheming woman, holding several playing cards, and flanked by "Violet Powder" and a bottle of "The Lotion -- Beautiful for Ever", both suggesting of someone who believes in the virtues of cosmetics and beauty aids. Condition: light soiling along edges. Most of this will come off with effort.
