A folk art wood box with a hidden drawer. N.d., circa early 20th Century. The exterior of the box measures 7.5 by 6.5 by 2.25 inches, or 19 by 16 by 6 cm. You move the spine this way and that to remove it -- to nail head have to come out from under keyholes -- revealing a hidden drawer in the center. The wood appears to be oak, which is a strong, yet deeply grained, wood, and the title and author's name are coarsely chiseled on the top board, and together the look is decidedly of naive artisanship. Structurally sturdy, there are just minor signs of wear.
