A very beautiful, lavish, catalogue for a lighting company, showing its lighting fixtures in the exterior and interior of a house and in various outbuildings, etc. 4to. 30 by 22 cm. 108 pp. 91 of the pages are color plates, with the greatest number depicting all the rooms of a well-furnished, middle class and upper middle class residence. These illustrations are done with lush, seductive colors, and they capture the fashionable aesthetics of the times, with the influence of Art Deco obvious without the furnishings being purely of that style. One can see the early signs of what now is known as mid-century Modern in the furnishings as well, all with a distinct Central European flavor. By this, we don't mean to say the furnishings would not be found ever in America, but as ensembles, one would be less likely to have encountered them in the U.S., plus some of the furnishings are a type one will still find in Central European homes and hotels. In terms of exteriors, several homes are shown with their outdoor lighting, and there are also garages, a barn, outbuildings, etc. shown, all most attractively. In several of the illustrations people are assessories to the spaces. Osram, the company whose products are being promoted, was based in Berlin, but this particular catalogue was produced specifically for the Czech market, it would appear, with the lithographer based in Prague.
