A scarce set of learning cards on mythology, dating to around 1800. There is one card for each figure from Roman or Greek mythology: Saturn, Cybele, Ceres, Jupiter, Juno, Apollo, and on and on. Each card has a small woodcut vignette medallion of the figure, followed by a description of the god and his place in the firmament. The backs of the cards are blank. N.d., circa 1800. There is one card for each French monarch, beginning with Pharamond and continuing to Louis XVII who died in 1795. Each card has a numismatic-like portrait followed by a brief biography, generally two or three paragraphs long. The backs of the cards are blank other than a neat ownership inscription of "A. O. Sullivan". The cards measure 10 by 7 cm, or 4 by 2. 75 inches, each. There is some light soilage here and there and light toning throughout.
