"Halka's Gelobnis", released in 1918, was her first starring vehicle. It was directed by Friedrich Zelnik, who became her husband and the director of her movies which followed. Mara made one a single film with sound; with the rise of the Nazis she moved with her husband, who was Jewish born, to London.
